Sekerpare
Ingredients

250 ml unsalted butter (room temperature)
1 glass powdered sugar
2 egg yolks
1/3 glass semolina
2 glass flour (sifted)
1 teaspoon baking powder
20 bleached almond or nuts
Syrup:
2 glasses sugar
2 glasses water
2 tablespoons lemon (juice)

Cooking Instructions

Boil the syrup ingredients for fifteen minutes and put aside. Let it cool down. Blend the butter with powdered sugar, add the egg yolks and blend very well with. Pour in the semolina, later very slowly add the flour. You would end up with very soft and light coloured dough. Cover it with plastic wrap, put aside for fifteen minutes. Preheat the oven to 190 C. Make fifteen small balls and place on a tray. Lightly press on their tops. Put an almond (or nuts) on the centre of each Sekerpare. Bake for 25 minutes until they are light brown. With a tablespoon, pour warm syrup over hot baked Sekerpare. Repeat this a few times and let them soak with the syrup for almost 15 minutes. Later with a spatula remove them from the syrup and place on a service plate. After cooling, cover them with plastic wrap and place in the fridge. serve cold.
